RE: Weight Distribution Shank....2.5" receiver end X 18" Long

Take a 2" shank and weld 2' wide 1/4 thick strips down all 4 sides. It's now 2.5 inches.

RE: TN 60 from Cleveland to SR 30 to Fall Creek Falls State Park

Thank you both for the replies. They are very appreciated. The comments about 30 are enough to exclude it and the comments about 111 tell me that is the route we will be taking. I prefer TN-153 from I-75 to US-27 over I-24. Traffic moves fairly well north bound thru the I-75/ I-24 split, it does not going west on I-24. TN-153 from I-75 to the dam is 6 lane interstate like highway. North of the river it is mostly 6 lane, but not divided & with 13 lights in 6 miles. Once on US-27 it’s a straight shot to TN-284. Then just 2 turns to the park.

RE: TN 60 from Cleveland to SR 30 to Fall Creek Falls State Park

I’d say TN-30 is a lot like GA-52, narrow and crooked. That said it looks better than it did last time we were up there. I think TDOT rebuilt the roadbed going west up from Pikeville. The road in from the south is more RV friendly, wider lane and wide shoulders. The other issue is if you take the short way thru the park to the campground, you come in the back of the campground. You would then have to turn around at or past the campground check in. May not be a big deal, but…

RE: Trip from Pa to Georgia via Virginia and Tennessee

US-64/74 in from I-75 is no problem, wide lanes and shoulders. Most is 4 lane divided. Up around the lake is 2 lane, but still wide lanes and shoulders. I have no problem taking our 35' 5th up that road at speed limit plus. TN-30 thru Reliance, TN is likely doable, but the road is narrow and in many place will not have any shoulder. It would be shorter, but probably not faster.

RE: Atlanta,Ga

I usually tell someone to go straight thru, it's what I do. But not this time, AVOID! It's 6 hours to Atlanta from Charleston. Leaving noon Friday means Atlanta at 6:00 pm. Leave much earlier, later, or go thru Macon. I'd pick a route from Macon thru Columbus to I-85 at Opelika, AL. Then US-80 across from Montgomery to I-20 at the AL/MS line

RE: Air ride pin box question

Mmaxed - I have one of these Trailairs on my 2022 Cedar Creek and shared the same concern about the angle of the lower jaw. I have no problems hitching and unhitching. There are 2 things I don't like about the Trailair - it looses air pressure and forces me to carry a compressor to ensure it is filled with air. And I don't like how it sits on my Curt Q24 hitch - this hitch is articulating and the head does not sit level when hitched up - it tilts slightly downward, towards the front of the truck. Lippert says both of these things are normal, I disagree. I have had the airbag in the Trailair replaced once under warranty due to leakage and the replacement is just as bad. Maybe my dealer is the culprit and didn't install it correctly. I am working with my dealer to get the current air bag replaced. Have you applied 100psi to the bag? That can help with air loss. The CURT design is the issue not the TrailAire. The heads pivot point being several inches below the kingpin connection is. This can lead to chucking, a common complaint against the CURT. B&W pivot point is right at the level of the kingpin. No it's the TraiAir, Head points down on mine, even with a B&W. The Curt may lead to chucking, but the pin plate of the TrailAir does not sit level. Air bag leaking, yea that's normal Lippert quality.

RE: Suspect hydraulic pump (slides) fading

Do you think that if a cylinder had an internal leak, it would eventually stop functioning because it will have oil on both sides of the piston? If true, the system would continue to function and one of the 4 slides would not work properly. Do you think I'm right? With a internal leak the oil just goes back to the tank. They are double acting cylinders, oil on both sides. So the non pressure side is always open to the tank. Before you try to open them back up check and see if they are all still tight against the trailer. Ours would not hold the bedroom shut. However you may have more than one bad, since you have loss of oil.

RE: Sailun 637

Let me add to this conversation, if your rv had a GVRW for 12400ish lbs and a pin weight of 2500 would you even go to a load range G tire. I decided to kick this down the road for a few years since I have replaced two tires in the last two years (one at the beginning of last season and one last week) and found a third that I suspect had separated so I took the other two in and got them done this morning. so, rolling down the road the weight on the tires should total around 10000 lbs which a good 10 ply is rated for 3500lbs @ 80psi. 70PSI will give me 3000lbs per tire. So as of right now I have 4 new Hercules Power ST2 tires so I am going to run these for the next season or two and decide exactly what I should go with for a tire. is the Sailun overkill? for this weight. I think for 3000lbs per tire from them I would be running at 65PSI Steve I have a GVWR of 14,400 with 6K axels. Loaded is just about your 12,400 with close to 3k on the pin. I'm now on 6 years with the S637s run 90-95 PSI, any more and they don't make contact across the whole tread. I don't need a G rated tire. I would have gotten another set of Bridgestone R250s but Bridgestone changed to the R238, and Michlelin Ribs were way more $$$. Anyway some time this year I'll replace with another set, and I'm running the 235/85/16 tire

RE: F150 5.0 V8 or V6 Twin Turbo

When I first got a company truck it was an 11 with 5.0 6 speed. Truck had 140K on it when it was assigned to me, I put 40K more on it in 18 months. Only issue I had was a coolant leak. It got about 18 mpg. In 18 I got a new 2.7 10 speed truck. It now has 66K with zero issues. Gets 22+ mpg. Both trucks being fleet vehicles get dealer serviced every 5K. Never towed with either, or haul heavy in the bed. The 2.7 will run circles around the 5.0
